Category:Security Policy Implications of Nanotechnology
From Wise Nano
Advanced nanotechnology implies advanced weapons and weapon-building. This will likely require new policy.
This is a project to:
- Work out the technical possibilities
- Try to find appropriate policy
- Make and deliver products (e.g. white papers)
To improve the security of the world in the face of molecular manufacturing.
Issues include:
- How quickly can we expect nanofactories and weapons to be developed?
- What kinds of attacks and defenses will be possible?
- What kinds of policy will be needed to provide security?
- What vicious cycles need to be avoided?
Please contribute! These are big questions and will need lots of work. It doesn't have to be polished--just constructive.
Possible articles:
- Impact of cyber-war
- Impact of AI
- Importance of software (design-ahead)
- Brute force vs. network: who wins?
- Offense vs. defense: who wins?
Please turn these into articles, and/or add more topics to the list.
